Her debut single Here in 2015 at the age of aged 19. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and listeners. The single peaked at 19th on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of the year. This same year, she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five original songs that reached Billboard's charts. This particular track was special because it was based on an interview with the Rap-Up show, many fans shared their experiences of doubting herself and learning how to be a better person. Cara has earned a name for including messages on mental health, kindness and self-love in her songs. The music she sings is reflective of her own personal struggles with mental illness and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, she described her album as half-tumultuous and half perfected. She says she grew by therapy and is adamant about encouraging others to seek help when they need it. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents when she turned 10 which ignited her musical passion. At the age of 13 she began covering her favorite songs via YouTube an important media platform in order to demonstrate to the world that she had the talents and determination to develop into a singer. Sweater Weather became her most popular song. An album label, EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her to write songs.
